CRN Expands Science/Regulatory Team—Seeks Vice President, Scientific & International Affairs

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 28, 2012—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement industry, is bulking up its well-respected and highly effective scientific and regulatory team, seeking to add a Vice President, Scientific and International Affairs. This individual will use his/her scientific expertise and scientific resources to support the appropriate role for dietary supplements as part of a healthy lifestyle, and to respond and affect regulatory initiatives and nutrition policy globally.

S/he will serve as CRN’s primary representative at CODEX meetings, IADSA conferences, and at other international events related to industry regulation and nutrition policy outside the United States.  S/he will publish on relevant topics in scientific peer-reviewed literature, analyze new scientific evidence regarding safety and benefits of dietary supplements and nutritional ingredients for various audiences, and serve as a resource for CRN member companies.  Interested candidates should possess an advanced degree and a minimum of five years experience in some combination of industry, academic or government setting as well as have experience and knowledge of relevant government and other authoritative bodies, and international policies and regulations related to dietary supplements and nutrition. 

This individual will work collaboratively with CRN’s member company scientists and the association’s science department, including: Duffy MacKay, N.D., vice president, scientific and regulatory affairs; Taylor Wallace, Ph.D., senior director, scientific and regulatory affairs, Rend Al-Mondhiry, J.D., regulatory counsel; Haiuyen Nguyen, senior manager, scientific research and regulatory affairs; Annette Dickinson, Ph.D., CRN consultant; and John Hathcock, Ph.D., CRN consultant. In addition, s/he will be the primary CRN staff liaison for both CRN-International and CRN’s International Trade & Market Development Committee.
