CRN member executives meet with key legislators during the association’s ‘Day on the Hill’

More than sixty dietary supplement industry executives representing more than forty CRN member companies convened on Capitol Hill for the association’s 13th annual “Day on the Hill.” Interspersed with more than 60 individual meetings with key House and Senate offices, the full-day event featured speakers including Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT), Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), Jared Polis (D-CO) and John Shimkus (R-IL), and Sens. John Boozman (R-AK) and Joe Manchin (D-WV).

CRN and its members shared data from the new economic analysis, “2016 Economic Impact of the Dietary Supplement Industry,” which demonstrates the economic impact the dietary supplement industry has on local communities. The congressional meetings also allowed attendees to discuss the coming dietary supplement product registry—part of the industry’s efforts to ramp up self-regulatory initiatives—and to call on Congress to include supplements in federal nutrition programs as well as permitting reimbursement from flex spending and healthcare savings accounts.
