CRN to Host Virtual Toxicology Workshop April 10, 2024

Session will focus on multi-faceted role of the modern toxicologist

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association representing the dietary supplement and functional food industry, will host a four-hour virtual toxicology workshop entitled Litigation, AI, Safety and Beyond: A Toxicologist's Focus on Supplements on Wednesday, April 10, at 12 p.m. EST. The session will be available to CRN members for $249.

The webinar continues the association’s practice of offering educational resources on important subjects, giving members the opportunity to interact with speakers and each other on relevant industry matters. This session will showcase the different and many roles of a toxicologist from labeling, to assessing the safety of new technologies, to the appropriate use of AI, along with how toxicologists play a key role in issue management (e.g., litigation, PR issues) as well as globalization of products. 

The proposed agenda will include sessions on the following topics:

“Like most professions, toxicology has evolved over the years and this workshop is intended to highlight the multi-faceted nature of the job and its overall importance in any scientific organization,” said Andrea Wong, Ph.D., CRN senior vice president, scientific and regulatory affairs. “As a toxicologist myself, my work goes far beyond the science as I must be able to communicate effectively to all stakeholders, understand the regulatory and legal implications and utilize new technologies. We think this will be an important session for anyone responsible for an ingredient safety role in their company.”
