Members confirm committee involvement as key to maximizing CRN membership, mobile app to make it easier

UPDATE: App now available

Participating in CRN committees and working groups is a primary way for you, as a CRN member, to shape the dietary supplement industry. Active participation contributes to your company's success by allowing you to be "surrounded by other people who are faced with the same challenges you are and are as committed as you are to providing solutions, to driving the narrative and not just sitting on the sidelines," Scott Ravech, CEO of Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes, as well as a CRN officer and board member, Membership Committee member and new member mentor advises.

"Trade associations provide external sources of intelligence and information, let companies try out new ideas, and provide a force multiplier when industry peers join together in common cause to solve a problem," CRN's Carl Hyland observed, writing for Nutrition Industry Executive on how companies can retain their best employees by providing them greater influence in the industry they love.

Hear from CRN members Scott Ravech of Deerland Probiotics & Enzymes, Josue Molina of Ancient Nutrition, and Russ Michelson of RB about maximizing the value of your membership by getting active in CRN's Committees, Working Groups and Task Forces.

To help foster these important connections, CRN members will soon have a new tool—the "CRN Connect" mobile app. Developed to make it easier to keep track of committee meetings and resources, along with other CRN and industry events, the app also features a newsfeed with filtered committee updates, member-to-member messaging, and discussion forums.

Full release to app stores for all members is expected next week NOW AVAILABLE. We'll alert you when the download is available and walk you through how to engage with the app in an upcoming Daily Supplement edition. Contact CRN's Gretchen Powers with any questions or feedback.

Look ahead to next week at CRN

Tuesday: Don't miss the opportunity to learn why 'Delivery Forms Matter' from industry experts

FDA threw the industry a curve ball in 2019 with a study concluding that nearly 20% of the adverse events for dietary supplements between 2006 and 2015 indicated swallowing problems or choking issues. Considerations for swallowing issues and dietary supplements present new delivery form opportunities and challenges for companies as they respond to consumer demands, make products safer, and address technical issues. Hear from six industry experts who will explore the range of issues delivery forms pose in the CRN/Natural Products Insider webinar, "Delivery Forms Matter," Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 2 pm Eastern. CRN members receive a discount with code CRN99. Learn more and register today.

Wednesday: Regulatory Affairs Committee meets via Zoom

CRN's Regulatory Affairs Committee (RAC) will hold its final meeting of 2020 on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 2 pm Eastern. The RAC will discuss comments submitted on a problematic Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) proposal, FDA's release of a Compliance Program Guidance Manual (CPGM) for dietary supplements, and more. See agenda and sign-up details here.

Thursday: 'Executive Engagement' connects members with CRN staff experts—spots still available for next Dec. 17 session

There are still a few spaces available for executives new to the dietary supplement industry—or still feeling new—to attend CRN's Executive Engagement virtual event Thursday, Dec. 17, from 12–4 pm ET. Contact CRN's Carl Hyland today to reserve your spot.
