Drawing on real clinical cases from Pet Poison Helpline, Dr. Brutlag will explore species differences that manufacturers should consider when assessing common consumer product ingredients and formulations.
Attendees will learn how these differences inform pre-market pet safety assessments, from ingredient and formulation reviews to identifying potential “watch-outs” and supporting “safe for use around pets” claims. The session will also address challenges including limited published data, species extrapolation, consumer behavior and product misuse, and misinformation, along with the specialized toxicology resources and veterinary expertise that can help fill those gaps.
