Iowa
On June 17 the Governor of Iowa signed House File 2581 into law, legalizing the sale of “consumable hemp products” that are lawfully sourced and in compliance with forthcoming state packaging and labeling requirements. “Consumable hemp product” includes food, dietary supplement, topical products, and drugs.
Louisiana
On June 13 the Governor of Louisiana signed House Bill 843 into law, which allows the marketing of dietary supplements (previously prohibited), provided the term “dietary” is not used in the statement of identity or otherwise in the labeling of hemp-derived CBD products. Other changes effective August 1, 2020 include but are not limited to:
- Removal of the requirement that all hemp-derived CBD product labels include, “This product has not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.”
- A prohibition on the sale of hemp-derived products to any person under 18 year of age, which includes both topical and ingestible products.

Nevada
Proposed hemp regulation requiring certain testing and labeling of a commodity or product containing hemp or CBD that is intended for human consumption in the state. No public comment announcement as of yet.
