WASHINGTON, D.C., August 2, 2012—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) and VIRGO today announced details for an industry-wide webinar titled—Dietary Supplement Advertising in a Fast Moving World—to be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. EDT. This is the third webinar in 2012 to be co-hosted by CRN and VIRGO.
A panel of regulators and regulatory experts— Richard Cleland, assistant director, division of advertising practices, Federal Trade Commission; Kathleen Dunnigan, senior staff attorney, The National Advertising Division; Justin Prochnow, shareholder, Greenberg Traurig, LLP; and Mark Mansour, partner, Akin Gump—will share their hands-on expertise, focusing on the most recent developments surrounding dietary supplement marketing, advertising, and health claims, in the U.S. and Europe.
Moderated by Rend Al-Mondhiry, regulatory counsel, CRN, this webinar will cover the following topics:
- FTC’s new guidance for disclosures in the current online and mobile advertising environment;
- The requirements for substantiating bioavailability claims, using case histories;
- The growing trend of regulatory actions triggering class-action lawsuits against supplement companies;
- The European Union’s recent health claims regulation and its potential global impact.
“Marketing dietary supplements can be challenging. In a competitive, global economy, savvy marketing and advertising is critical. But companies must be responsible and act within the law when making claims about their products. The aim of this webinar is to provide some clarity on the latest developments surrounding advertising claims and provide tips for marketing dietary supplements legally,” said Ms. Al-Mondhiry.
The registration fee—$149 for CRN members and $199 for non-members—is a per registration site fee, meaning multiple people may participate in the webinar from a single site, such as a company’s conference room. This fee also includes unlimited access to the on-demand recording of the webinar for 90 days. A promotional discount of $25 will be offered to participants taking more than one CRN/VIRGO webinar in 2012.
