WASHINGTON, D.C., July 18, 2013—The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) today announced that Daniel Fabricant, Ph.D., director, Division of Dietary Supplement Programs, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), will be a keynote speaker at The Conference: CRN’s Annual Symposium for the Dietary Supplement Industry, taking place Sept. 18–21 at the Montage Deer Valley in Park City, Utah.
Dr. Fabricant will discuss FDA priorities, sharing insights on what’s top-of-mind for the agency and the industry when it comes to dietary supplements. Following his presentation, there will be an opportunity to ask questions about topics including: the agency’s report card on the industry’s compliance with good manufacturing practices (GMPs); the agency’s progress in implementing the Food Safety Modernization Act; and the status of the New Dietary Ingredient Notification draft guidance.
“We are pleased to again have a high level FDA official share insights and engage with our conference attendees to help ensure the industry stays in compliance with the law,” said Steve Mister, president and CEO, CRN. “It’s critical that industry has a chance to foster a strong and productive dialogue with our regulators, and we are sure that Dr. Fabricant’s presentation will provide attendees with critical insights to help them best understand the current regulatory landscape. We also appreciate the agency’s willingness to listen to any industry concerns.”
The Conference kicks off with an evening reception on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and Dr. Fabricant will be the first speaker on the opening day, Thursday, Sept. 19. With three days of substantive sessions and thought-provoking speakers, the annual event also provides valuable networking opportunities. It is presented in tandem with The Workshop: CRN’s Day of Science, Sept. 18, which brings together top scientific experts for a focused day of discussions on relevant dietary supplement/nutrition science.
This year, in addition to offering flexible registration options, CRN is giving attendees a choice of two hotel options. Guests can choose from the Montage (where the events take place) or the Stein Eriksen Lodge, located 10 minutes from the Montage, with regular shuttles available. Both lodgings are nestled into a picturesque mountainside and offer luxury amenities. Registrants are encouraged to book early, as space is very limited.
