Isabelle Raymond, Ph.D.
SVP Global Clinical & Medical Affairs
Nutrafol (Unilever Wellbeing)

"Being named a finalist for the Annette Dickinson Trailblazer Award means so much because it recognizes something I care deeply about: the freedom to think boldly and push boundaries in this industry — not just to build credibility for supplements, but to pursue research with real, meaningful endpoints for populations who've been overlooked for far too long, especially menopausal women."

BIO:

Isabelle Raymond, Ph.D., is an author and scientific leader in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, more recently working in beauty and wellness. She received her Masters and PhD in Biomedical Science from the Université de Montréal. She has authored over 80 publications and textbook chapters and books in several therapeutic fields including aesthetic medicine, dermatology, sleep disorders and pain management. She is currently the Senior Vice President of Global Medical and Clinical Affairs at Nutrafol – the #1 dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement brand—where she leads clinical and medical strategy with a particular focus on advancing evidence-based research, bringing a new level of clinical standards to the supplement industry.

FUN FACTS:

Favorite supplement: Nutrafol Women’s Balance hair growth supplement, hands down, which supports hair thinning through menopause – I live the science I help create.
Happy place: The streets of Paris — no map, no agenda, just wandering aimlessly and popping into the occasional vintage designer shop.
Special talent that may surprise people: I'm a very creative soul at heart: I sing, I paint, I dance, I sew. It's not that different from research, actually—the same trial and error, the same chasing a feeling until it works.

ORIGINAL NOMINATION SUBMISSION:

I am pleased to nominate Dr. Isabelle Raymond, PhD, SVP of Global Medical and Clinical Affairs at Nutrafol. With a PhD in Biomedical Science from the Université de Montréal and dozens of published works across dermatology, neuroscience, and aesthetics, she has spent her career holding her research to the highest standard and demanding the same of our industry.

Dr. Raymond leads Nutrafol's rigorous clinical testing program, overseeing more than 30 clinical studies, including placebo-controlled trials. She speaks at industry conferences, is a mentor to her team and colleagues, and has championed the inclusion of women in clinical trial design. She’s candidly spoken about her personal resolve to change our industry by studying not only women, but women experiencing perimenopause and menopause.

Dr. Raymond pioneered the first published randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trials for hair growth supplements in menopausal women. This is in addition to multiple clinical trials she’s lead demonstrating hair growth supplementation significantly improved hair growth, reduced shedding, and improved quality of life for its users, including those on plant-based diets.

Dr. Raymond is a vocal advocate for the menopause community. She co-created Nutrafol's "The Menopause Edit" platform, stating: "Women felt dismissed, invisible, or simply confused by what was happening to their bodies — they deserve better." She has appeared on podcasts discussing menopausal hair health and contributes regularly to industry opinion pieces, ensuring that consumers and clinicians alike have access to transparent, peer-reviewed research.

Dr. Raymond has not simply raised the bar — she built the bar. I am proud to nominate her for this honor.
