CRN-I Hosts International Symposium on the Role of Nutrition in Extending Healthspan

WASHINGTON — The Council for Responsible Nutrition-International (CRN-I), the global public policy arm of the Council for Responsible Nutrition, is set to host its annual symposium titled “Food Is Medicine: The Role of Nutrition in Extending Healthspan” on Sunday, Sept. 29 at the Maritim Hotel in Dresden, Germany. This prestigious event brings together government officials, academic leaders, and industry stakeholders to explore how nutrition can play a critical role in improving health outcomes and extending the period of life spent in good health.

The symposium will feature renowned speakers from institutions across the world, including Helene M. Langevin, MD, from the National Institutes of Health (NIH); Lynnette Neufeld, PhD of the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Andrew Shao, PhD of ChromaDex; and Gary Williamson, PhD, from Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Topics of discussion will include the impact of protein-rich diets on muscle function, the potential of dietary phytochemicals to enhance healthspan, and groundbreaking findings on vitamin D from the VITAL and DO-HEALTH trials.

James C. Griffiths, PhD, Senior Vice President of International and Scientific Affairs at CRN, who leads the symposium, emphasized the importance of the symposium's timely focus. "As we face the challenges of an aging population globally, the role of nutrition in promoting healthier, longer lives has never been more crucial. This event is a unique opportunity for leading experts to collaborate and shape science-based policies that can truly impact public health outcomes worldwide."

As in past years, CRN-I will publish a conference report that summarizes the event’s proceedings and highlights key areas of discussion where future actions may be needed.
