New initiative helps retail buyers better curate their offerings; improves retailer handling of probiotics; educates customers about the benefits of probiotics

In response to a report published today in an online issue of Clinical Toxicology, “Nine prohibited stimulants found in sports and weight loss supplements,” the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, issued the following statement:

The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, today announced promotions and new responsibilities for three key staffers. Holly Vogtman was promoted to Director, Communications; Rashidah Denton, to Manager, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs; and Gretchen Powers’ role expanded to Senior Director, Marketing & Member Experience.

While CRN is saddened to hear that Steven Tave is leaving his position as director of the Office of Dietary Supplement Programs (ODSP), we congratulate Mr. Tave on his new position in the Office of Regulatory Affairs at FDA.

Res. 116) that recognizes the potential role vitamin D may play in decreasing the severity of COVID-19.

In response to the introduction of the Hemp and Hemp-Derived CBD Consumer Protection and Market Stabilization Act of 2021, introduced by Representatives Kurt Schrader (D-OR) and Morgan Griffith (R-VA), The Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN), the leading trade association for the dietary supplement and functional food industry, issued the following statement

CRN is pleased with the recent ruling from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals regarding the dietary supplement, biotin. The Court upheld a previous decision of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California that found federal law expressly preempts the claims of the plaintiff.
