We are advancing CRN’s core purpose and values toward a long-term vision.

The 2021–2023 strategic plan adopted by CRN’s board of directors reaffirms the association’s core purpose is:

To protect and advance a climate for our members to responsibly develop, source, manufacture, and market science-backed dietary supplements, functional food, and their ingredients, for better health and nutrition.

CRN’s initiatives are driven by these core organizational values:

  • Influential and proactive leadership
  • Science-based decision making
  • Integrity and accountability
  • A passion for wellness

We envision a future in which nutritional products—dietary supplements and functional food—are universally trusted, accessible, and accepted as essential for a healthy world.

Hear from outgoing board of directors chair Barry Ritz, Ph.D., of Nestlé Health Science and incoming chair Tara Martin of Nutrawise Health & Beauty Corporation dba youtheory.

"I'm proud to have overseen a highly productive couple of years with CRN, the leading trade association for the dietary supplements and functional foods industry. We've seen victories—for example, NAC is back—but, new ingredients are in the drug preclusion crosshairs, as we're seeing now with NMN. CRN's government relations team successfully held back several age restriction bills in the states, but the battle is not over as copycat efforts in other state issues continue to crop up across the country. In addition, discussions on mandatory product listing continue and CRN's essential work to secure a seat at the table for legislative negotiations will prove to be worthwhile toward increasing transparency and laying the groundwork for an MPL industry can live with. And let's not forget the important work we've just gotten started with increasing access to nutrition and nutrition education for all."

"I'm looking forward to diving in and helping to lead the association as it continues the important work that it does for the dietary supplement and functional food industry. CRN's amazing team is busy planning its work programs for the coming year, building on recent successes and actively defending against mischaracterizations and industry critics. CRN continues to promote the importance of supplements in supporting health and wellness and in improving health outcomes, which as we know in turn, lower societal healthcare costs. This is of course, explained more fully in the Supplements to Savings report, which was released by CRN in 2022."
